Balearic Islands Holidays - Travel Guide

Ibiza travel Guide - Majorca travel Guide - Menorca travel Guide

Playa den Bossa beach ideal for families with young childrenThe Balearic Islands are an archipelago in the western Mediterranean Sea, near the eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula. They form an autonomous community and a province of Spain, of which the capital city is Palma de Mallorca. Majorca is the largest - and most popular of the islands, followed by Menorca and Ibiza. All islands offer something different with Menorca having more beaches than the other islands put together is very popular for families with young children during the summer. Ibiza is still popular for families with older children - especially those with teenagers who want to dance the night away but for families who want something more sedate then Ibiza can still deliver with some excellent family friendly resorts like Cala Llonga, Es Cana, Playa De'n Bossa, Portinatx and Santa Eulalia. Majorca or as the Spanish call it Mallorca has something for everyone with Alcudia & Puerto Pollensa in the north, Cala Millor & Cala Bona in the east being very popular with families but the general guide is anywhere but Magalluf unless you find suburbia attractive. Menorca is great for families but apart from its great beaches and beautiful countryside there's not a lot of attractions and the island would be better for a weeks holiday rather than any longer. All islands are well serviced by both charter and "low-cost" airlines but remember that it's only Majorca that is open all year with Ibiza and menorca open between the months of May to October.
