Family Friendly Bulgaria holidays - Bulgaria Hotels & Apartments only - Holidays for Larger family's |

Bulgaria is a beautiful mountainous country, small in size but rich in ancient culture, scenic splendour, friendly people and old-fashioned warmth and hospitality. Situated in the south east of Europe on the Balkan Peninsula, Bulgaria is not as much a tourist destination as its Greek and Turkish neighbours to the south are but a great time can still be had. The popularity of its Black Sea resorts, which are scenically captivating with their fine sandy beaches, sunny climate and safe seas are wonderfully inexpensive too. Bourgas is the fourth largest city in Bulgaria, situated in the south-eastern part of the country. It's a gateway for the big southern Black Sea resorts in Bulgaria like Sunny Beach, Nessebar & Sveti Vlas. Varna and its beautiful surroundings are the perfect place for a holiday. The city is the pearl of the Black Sea, offering superb beaches, lots of entertainment and cultural attractions, variety of restaurants and pubs offering excellent food and exciting night life.

Bulgaria holidays travel facts Climate: Bulgaria's Weather & Climate (opens as a pop-up) Airports: Bulgaria-Bourgas Airport (BOJ) or Varna Airport (VAR) (opens as a pop-up) Flight time from UK: Between 3 & 3.5 hours Currency: The official currency is the Lev (BGN), which is divided into 100 stotinki. Bulgaria has strict currency regulations. If you enter Bulgaria with cash of any currency amounting to the equivalent of Leva 8000 or more, you must declare it to customs officials. Foreign currency may be exchanged in banks, hotels or at one of the numerous bureaux de change, however due to a common practice of misleading rates of exchange it is better to go to banks or hotels to change money. Not all banks accept travellers checks and those that do usually charge a 5% commission. Major international credit cards are increasingly becoming accepted by tourist hotels, upmarket shops and restaurants, travel agents and car rental agents, but Bulgaria is still largely a cash economy. There are ATMs in the main cities and at Black Sea resorts. Time:
Local time is GMT +2 (GMT +3 from April to September)
Language: Bulgarian is the official language, which uses the Cirillic alphabet, but English, German and French is spoken in resorts, hotels and restaurants.
Entry requirements for UK nationals: UK passport holders, endorsed British Citizen, do not need a visa to visit Bulgaria for a period of up to 30 days in a six-month period. Passports should be valid for the period of intended stay. Other UK passport holders require a visa and a passport that is valid for at least six months. Electricity: Electrical current is 220 volts, 50Hz. European two-pin plugs are in use. Useful contact information: Bulgarian Embassy, London, United Kingdom: 020 75813144 Website

Things to see and do in Bulgaria |
Action Aquapark - Sunny Beach: The park offers water attractions for each taste and age. Thirteen water attractions in total including the Kamikadze, Owister for those who dare, or there's the more sedate Niagara, Black hole, Crazy river, Mega slide and the usual Hydro-tubes. The great thing about the Aquapark is that many of the rides are indoors so you don't need the blazing sun to enjoy a day at the waterpark. For the younger children there's there very own children's pool, water castle and a playground which includes part of a pirate ship. There are also several cocktail bars and restaurants where you can try tempting culinary specialities.

Aquapolis - Golden Sands: This was the first Waterpark in Bulgaria, established in a unique Mauritian Mediterranean style. It is located in the north-western section of 'Golden Sands' tourist resort, on the main road from 'Riviera' tourist resort to Albena resort. The water park is situated in the forest, sporting a unique sea-view and the whole tourist resort. The park offers an open Wild River, imitating a river torrent down the curvy and knobbly path of which visitors descend with the help of rings. There's also the Niagara which you can descend with a maximum speed of 50 km/h with the help of rings. There's also the Black hole and the quadruple-track slide – Slalom but the most exciting experience in Aquapolis is the high-speed slide type "Kamikaze". It is for people who enjoy extreme sensations. The launch occurs from a platform with a height of 18 meters and a maximum speed of 60 km/h.

Sunny Beach is a genuine children's paradise with its long sandy beaches, tennis courts, swimming pools, bowling alleys, mini-golf playgrounds, yachts and sailboats, all water sports facilities, horse-riding, water park, carting to mention a few. There's also a 24 hour kindergarten service available, so you can have some time on your own and not worry about the kids. |
| |
|
|
Golden Sands: As well as the beach the kids will love the children's sports centre which is packed with fun activities ranging from pony rides to bouncy castles, water slides to a little train for little people. A two-hour Pirate Party sailing on a yacht is a winner with the kids with its water bombs, games and lunch. There's also a six lane bowling alley and pool tables at the Palm Beach Hotel sports club, and a small Children's Fun Park in front of the Admiral Hotel. For older children, the Karting Track to the north of Varna has go-karts for all ages. |
