 The island of Corfu, best known of the seven Ionian islands that lie off the north-west coast of Greece, differs markedly from the other popular Greek islands because not only is it green and lush, but also very developed with tourist resorts and hotels. Summer time is hectic on Corfu, with charter flights arriving daily from European cities, ferries disgorging travellers from Italy, and cruise ships docking. There is plenty to draw visitors to this magical island. Modern Corfu Town is upbeat and cosmopolitan, offering an exciting conglomeration of Greek, Italian, French and British influences. The old town was laid out by the Venetians in the 14th century and features narrow alleys lined with multi-storeyed pastel-coloured buildings with red tiled roofs, creating a scene reminiscent of Italy. The hub of activity in the town centre is the Liston, an arcaded row of cafes and restaurants, copied from the Rue de Rivoli in Paris.

Things to see and do in Corfu |
Aqualand: Located in the middle of the Island on the main road to Glyfada the park has something to offer everyone who loves the water. There are giant slides, the multi-slide, the black hole, four twisters, the kamikaze, the hydri-tube, the crazy and the lazy River, two "free fall" slides a big jacuzzi and the big deep pool. For the younger ones there is a special section offering a big shallow pool, waterslides, flat ramp, slippery octopus, screaming frog, shower mushroom all designed for children. For those who want to keep dry there is the adventure playground, a bouncing castle, videogames and mini-cars. |

Coach Tours: There are loads of coach trips you can book at nearly all of the hotels and they are an excellent way of seeing how beautiful Corfu really is. Book a tout early in your holiday as you will then still have time to re-visit the places that you found of interest. |

Grotto Boat Trips: From the beach at Paleokastritsa you can take a trip to see the rock formations along the coast which are home to many small caves and grottos. Nausica Cave, named after the daughter of the King of the Phaeacians is worth a closer look as is the "Blue Eye" cave. |
