Family Friendly Fuerteventura holidays - Fuerteventura Hotels & Apartments only - Holidays for Larger family's |
The second largest of the Canary Islands, measuring about 62 miles in length and no more than 20 miles wide, Fuerteventura is characterised by rather austere, low, rounded mountains. Fuerteventura is only 70 miles from the continent of Africa, and this sunny island shares the same latitude (and therefore weather conditions) with the renowned holiday destinations of Florida and Mexico. Fuerteventura is relatively new to the tourist market and is about at the level Tenerife was some 20 years ago, however unlike Tenerife, it has more than 150 idyllic sandy beaches only sparsely populated and many seldom visited at all. The island has an arid volcanic landscape, and apart from the beaches, not much to recommend it in the way of tourist amenities or attractions. The island’s main resort towns are Corralejo and Caleta del Fuste.

Things to see and do in Fuerteventura |
Water Park: As well as being a water park with kamikaze rides, chutes and wave pools, Baku Water Park and Village offers ten pin bowling, crazy golf, a driving range, restaurants and shops. Open for only four years the rides and facilities in this Water Park are very modern and safe. The park's slogan is "if you want to have a good time, you have to get wet." There is also an area for young children with there own water slides. |
La Lajita Oasis Park: Situated in the south of Fuerteventura, open all the year round, is a natural paradise of more than 780.000 m². You will enjoy an unforgettable day visiting one of the most important projects created to protect and preserve the unique flora and fauna of the Canary Island. There are animals from all over the world as well as the typical Fuerteventuran Goats, Donkeys and the "Majorero" Camel. Oasis Park offers you a lot of interesting and very entertaining shows and of course don't forget our camel safari - the highlight of the day! |
Beaches: Corralejo is the busiest resort on Fuerteventura for families and is situated on the north coast. The bustling harbour, the beach and streets filled with shops, bars and restaurants, Corralejo offers something for everyone, with plenty of watersports available and a wide variety of ferry trips along the coast. The protected sand dunes, and a much larger secluded beach are located just outside the resort. The next popular family-friendly resort is Caleta de Fuste, which is much quieter, but with plenty of facilities around its’ wide horseshoe-shaped beach. However, the best beaches on Fuerteventura are in the south, in the Jandia peninsula, which is a nature reserve where a 12-mile stretch of white sand is flanked by sand dunes. Jandia is better suited to couples and families with young children as are all the resorts in the south. Costa Calma and Morro Jable, offer an unhurried pace of life, and an endless array of unspoilt beaches to relax on. |
