Typical beach great for family holidays in the Algarve The Algarve stretches along the southern coast of Portugal and is a beautiful area in which to holiday. The Algarve combines the historic and traditional Portugal with friendly up-to-date resorts to cater for the modern-day holidaymakers that visit each year. The beaches this area are some of the best in Europe, many are Blue Flag beaches ensuring they are clean, safe and ideal for playing and relaxing on. The warm climate means it is an all year round holiday destination and attracts its fair share of golfers. You would be wrong however to think that golf is the only thing on offer in the Algarve as the area has many resorts that cater for the young and old alike, with much to offer in a picturesque setting. Albufeira, Portugal's most popular resort, has been described as a stretch of 'holiday-land suburbia', spreading from the old town both east and west along the coast, its sandy coves and golden beaches drawing an assorted crowd from retired couples to wild teens, and plenty of families with young children.
