Family Friendly Kos holidays - Kos Hotels & Apartments only - Holidays for Larger family's

Kardamena beachThis island of the Dodecanese group has been taken over almost completely by tourism, catering especially for family holidays. Aside from the bonus of beautiful beaches, Kos has an abundance of interesting ruins to explore, and is easily reached from Rhodes or Bodrum (Turkey) by ferry. The island also features the remains of temples for other healing deities, including Isis and Sarapis, and appears to have historically been an island healing retreat. The island boasts a tree that is reputedly the oldest in Europe and Hippocrates is said to have held lecture sessions in its shade. Kos has busy bars and an entertaining nightlife, and there are some pleasant towns and beaches outside the capital, but those looking for empty beaches should head for quieter island.

Things to do on Kos

Some of the slides at the Kos Aqua Club HotelIf you are looking for theme & water parks then Kos isn't for you unless you decide to stay at the Kos Aqua Club Hotel in Tigaki which has its own small waterpark within the grounds. The hotel really is an aparthotel and although it has a four-star rating the beach does let it down but with its own four swimming pools and a pirate ship you can't expect it to have everything. If your children are in to water slides then click here to see more on the Kos Aqua Club Hotel. If horse riding is your thing, pay a visit to Tingaki Beach in the north of Kos and ride till your hearts content! The stables run treks for both beginners and experienced riders. Boat trips to Turkey are available every day from the harbour in Kos Town and it only takes around 50-minutes to make the crossing. The last boat back is around 17.00 hours but don't forget to take your passport with you. A holiday on Kos is all about taking in the beauty of the island and there are several coach trips that are excellent value. Details can be found at your hotels reception.
